Snugpak Brand Ambassador

I am a Snugpak brand ambassador and have used a wide range of Snugpak’s equipment over the years. From tents, tarps, bags, sleeping mats and clothing.

I rely on Snugpak’s quality products to keep me outdoors and keep me shooting photos. Here you can read my reviews on the latest kit to the market or my stories on trips across the country.
Although these are reviews and testing below, the Snugpak products have gone on to be my tried, tested and always in my pack now. These products form part of my hiking and camping all year and make the outdoors that little bit more enjoyable.

My Kozu Books story - Detox
The book brings together a series of expeditions and trips across the UK in to a book about getting outdoors and enjoying what the country has no matter the weather.

The book takes you through a natural journal as if you were walking a series of paths, woods or mountains to get from camp to the coast.

I first discovered Snugpak back in 2015/2016 whilst on my own Duke of Edinburgh Gold expeditions who were run by Expedition Wales. The team at ExpedWales had selected Snugpak’s highly popular Scorpion tents because they were robust, 4-season, easy to repair and cheaper compared to similar tents of its range…

Pen y Fan wild camping

I rely on Snugpak because it is cost effective, reliable and offers light weight options which do the job. As a gear reviewer I get a huge variety of equipment and many would think the more expensive a product is, the better a product should be which isn’t always the case. Which is why I have always enjoyed using both Snugpak and Vanguard Photo equipment. Pro level kit at lower price points which neither compromise on quality or features.

Snugpak ML6 Smock

The Snugpak® ML Softie® Smock is ideal for both mountain and lowland ventures, all year round, from hill-walking in Dartmoor and the Peak District, to summer Alpine in Snowdonia and Scottish Winter on Ben Nevis, where the main environmental considerations are wind and cold weather.

Features use in winter and snow

Snugpak Adventure racing tops

The Snugpak® AR Softie® Vest and Smock is ideal for races with overnight camps, as well as mountain marathons and XC adventures, all year round, where the main environmental considerations are wind and inclement weather, and a smaller insulation layer is required for the central core of the body.

Snugpak Journey Duo tent

The Journey Duo is a practical two person tent with a low profile design, excellent in high winds, with ample storage in its generous front porch. It has a large front door with a mosquito net ventilation panel. Constructed with a durable ground sheet in a bathtub style.

Snugpak Endurance rucksack

The Endurance is one of our 40 litre rucksacks, and is well-named! Made of 600D Heavy Duty Nylon, it’s reliable and durable with a waist strap for security and padded, adjustable shoulder straps for extra comfort with over 150 MOLLE attachment points.

Snugpak Air mat with footpump

Snugpak are renowned for building solid, military grade, shelters and sleeping bags and in this new offering, the Basecamp air mat with footpump they combine the best of both worlds with the military background with a hardy mat but at an low cost for all to enjoy. Lighter than most mats and considerably cheaper making it perfect for experienced backpackers or those just starting out.

Snugpak AWS tarp

I typically use tents over tarps. I've always said they are easier to use and simplier set up but Snugpak challenged me to take the AWS out and see how simple and fun this bush craft style is. Read how I got on with the link below.

The Softie® Jacket 3 is our spring and summer jacket, keeping you comfortable down to 0°C. It comes in Silver, Red, Blue colourway plus our traditional Olive, Military Black (Clear Logo), Multicam camouflage and A-TACS camouflage colours.

The SJ Range is our latest development in all-weather jackets. Designed to give you the perfect outer shell whatever conditions you're facing throughout the year.

I take the one man Snugpak Ionosphere tent out for review across 2018/19 winter and put the bivi style tent to test in some extremes, including 90k/mh winds and heavy snow.

Unlike traditional sleeping mats, the Snugpak Antarctic sleeping mat is a softie filled mat designed for winter and sub-zero conditions where traditional rubber based mats can crack and split under the extreme temperatures. I take the Snugpak winter mat out to see how comfortable and durable it really is in winter.

Snugpak Softie® 12 Endeavour sleeping bag

Possibly the best sleeping bag on the market? The ultimate in efficiencies, temperature rating versus cost and weight! I have been using the Snugpak Softie® 12 Endeavour sleeping bag for the last year and now give a complete coverage review and thoughts of the 4-season sleeping bag.

I take the Special Forces Complete System out during winter, looking at the strengths of combining two bags together.

Included is a ‘how to use’ the baffle and connect the Special Forces bag 1 and 2 together.

Follow a video or helpful picture guide in how to set up the Snugpak Special Forces Complete system sleeping bags with the Baffle zipper to turn two bags in to one with quick and easy access.

The Snugpak Scorpion 2 tent has been a go-to for me for a long time now. Ever since my Duke of Edinburgh Gold expeditions, it’s always been a tent I’ve used as back-up, support, solo adventures and for camping trips where I’m not reviewing and testing other kit/tents.

Read the review with highlights, sticking points and why it’s my go-to all these years later!
